How to take Calocurb: three schedules, one 500 mg dose
How to take Calocurb: the brand's schedule, the CLINICAL label and the C4 trial protocol side by side, converted to mg of Amarasate a day.
To take Calocurb, swallow one 125 mg capsule an hour before a meal, on an empty stomach, and step up to the full schedule by day five; calocurb.com sets a maximum of four capsules a day, or 500 mg of Amarasate. The brand calls two capsules a day “standard”, yet its own Day 5+ step is four.
This desk read the calocurb.com home page, the Calocurb CLINICAL label as published on Fullscript and the C4 trial paper on PMC on 3 October 2026. This is an evergreen how-to; the schedules are what those pages said that day.
How to take Calocurb, schedule by schedule
| Step | Calocurb (brand page) | Calocurb CLINICAL (Fullscript label) | C4 trial |
|---|---|---|---|
| Days 1-2 | 1 x 125 mg = 125 mg/day | 1 x 125 mg = 125 mg/day | Three-week escalation, 125 mg a week |
| Days 3-4 | 2 x 125 mg = 250 mg/day | 2 x 125 mg = 250 mg/day | (as above) |
| Day 5 | 4 x 125 mg = 500 mg/day | 4 x 125 mg = 500 mg/day | (as above) |
| Day 6 on | 4 x 125 mg = 500 mg/day | 2 x 250 mg = 500 mg/day | 500 mg/day in four capsules, once escalation ends |
| Timing | One hour before meals | One hour before a meal | Half the dose at least 1 h before each main meal |
| Stated maximum | Four capsules daily | None in the text read | 500 mg |
The label’s Day 5 line reads “two 125 capsules”, without “mg”; we read it as 125 mg.
What does the ‘standard’ dose mean?
The brand page recommends “building up to the ‘standard’ dose of 2 capsules per day, four hours apart”. Two 125 mg capsules is 250 mg a day. The schedule beneath it ends at “two capsules twice daily”, which is four capsules and 500 mg, the same figure as its maximum.
None of the three pages read explains which one a reader should follow, and none explains why the CLINICAL line switches to a 250 mg capsule after day five.
Which dose did the trial test?
Only 500 mg a day. The C4 trial gave Amarasate in delayed-release capsules, four a day, reached over three weeks. Of 150 randomised, 128 completed 24 weeks; the extract group lost 3.8% more body weight than placebo.
The CLINICAL maintenance dose and the brand’s Day 5+ step match the trial. The 250 mg “standard” does not.
Why build up slowly?
The brand page says loose stools can occur in the first 24 to 72 hours and that increasing the dose gradually helps. The trial’s tolerability counts are in our Calocurb side effects piece. The capsule’s contents are in what is Amarasate.
Questions readers ask
When should I take Calocurb?
Every source read here puts it about an hour before a meal. The brand page says one hour before meals; the CLINICAL label says one hour before a meal; the C4 trial said at least one hour before the two main meals. Only the brand’s ‘standard’ line, two capsules four hours apart, does not mention meals.
How many Calocurb capsules can I take a day?
The brand page sets the maximum at four capsules a day. Its capsules are 125 mg, so four is 500 mg of Amarasate. The CLINICAL label reaches the same 500 mg with two 250 mg capsules. The C4 trial tested 500 mg a day and no other dose.
Should Calocurb be taken on an empty stomach?
Yes, on all three documents. The brand page says best results come on an empty stomach; the CLINICAL label says always take it on an empty stomach with at least 8 ounces of water; the trial asked participants to dose on a relatively empty stomach.
How long does Calocurb take to work?
The brand page says its effects are typically felt within an hour and last several hours, and that it is most effective taken for at least three months. Those are the brand’s claims. The trial measured body weight every four weeks over 24 weeks, so it says nothing about the first hour.
The small print, meant
A schedule is not a promise. The CLINICAL label says the product is not intended for pregnant or nursing women or anyone under 18; we would not edit that line. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration, and no supplement is a substitute for medical care.
